Summit- Rosemary W. Christiansen, 89, formerly of Summit, died on Monday, May 12, 2014 at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home in Stamford, where she had been a resident for a brief time.

Born March 13, 1925 in New York City, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Lillian (Beck) Ward.

Rosemary was a 1943 graduate of Baldwin High School, Baldwin, NY and married Charles A. Christiansen on March 11, 1944. They raised their five children on Long Island where she worked as a bookkeeper for the family business. Rosemary was active in the Welcome Wagon and in 1976, they permanently moved to Summit. She was an active member of the Summit Seniors, Grange and a communicant of the former St. Anna's Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband: Charles A. Christiansen, Sr.; five children: Charles A. (Cori) Christiansen, Jr. of Ballston Spa, Christine Christiansen (Ralph Cornwell) of Melvin Village, NH, Randi Christiansen Roberts of Ballston Spa, Jeanne Christiansen (Ron Cleeve), Cobleskill, and Rosemary "Posie" (Dennis) Shaw of Richmondville; three siblings: James (Linda) Ward of AZ, Sr. Jeanne Du Espirit, LSP, Washington, DC, and Lillian Taylor of Arizona; twelve grandchildren: Scott Christiansen, Kelly Koch, Andrea Singer, Britt Widerstrom, Lisa Corkins, Erik Widerstrom, Peter John Brancato III, Zachary Stahlecker, Skylar Shaw, Sophia Shaw, Shilo Christiansen, and Shei Christiansen; eleven beloved great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

A period of visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 AM on Friday, May 16, 2014 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill. Burial will follow in Summit Cemetery.
