Richmondville- Mrs. Rose Z. Markley, 91, of Main Street, died Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Markley was born March 23, 1916 in Summit, IL, the daughter of John and Mary (Rejc) Zitko.
For most of her life, Mrs. Markley was a homemaker. She was employed as a caseworker for SCCAP in Schoharie for about five years in the 1970's.
On Sept. 15, 1946, she married Andrew P. Markley II, and he predeceased her on Nov. 12, 1999. Mrs. Markley was also predeceased by a sister, Helen Zitko Walker and two brothers, John and Paul Zitko.
Survivors include her daughter: Joan (Frank) Bongiorno of Binghamton; 2 sons: John Z. (Christy) Markley and Andrew P. Markley III, all of Cobleskill; a sister, Mary Cook of Richmondville; 5 grandchildren: Andrea Joan Bennett, Angela Rose West, Matthew Andrew Tilton, Jonathan Richard Tilton, and Sara Diane Tilton; 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home 171 Elm Street Cobleskill with Rev. Gary Edmister officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 AM, prior to the service on Sat. Burial will be in Richmondville Rural Cemetery with a reception following at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Richmondville.
