Ronald Smith Sr

Cobleskill- Ronald D. Smith, Sr., 78, of Mineral Springs Rd., died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at his home.

Born March 29, 1938 in Carlisle, he was the son of Walter and Pauline (Lent) Smith.

For several years, Ronald was both a beef and dairy farmer, mainly on the family farm in Richmondville, but also in Carlisle. He retired from Mill Services as a security guard.

His greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ronald had a long time hobby of tinkering with tractors and lawn mowers.

Survivors include his five children: Rayfield Smith of FL, William Smith of Central Bridge, Helen Smith and Missy Smith both of FL, and Ronald D. Smith, Jr. of Cobleskill.

A graveside service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Richmondville Rural Cemetery with Wes Edwards as celebrant. There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill and Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home of Middleburgh.
