Middleburgh- Roger D. Ebert, 78, of Clauverwie, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at his residence with his loving wife at his side.

Born December 4, 1934 in Jamaica, Long Island, NY, he was the son of Mathias and Bertha (Langlois) Ebert.

Roger was a United States Army Veteran, serving from 1955 to 1957, at which time he joined the Reserves and received an honorable discharge in 1963.

Roger was parts manager at the former Rodewig Chevrolet dealer in Cobleskill from 1969 until 1983. It was then that he became proprietor of Schoharie Auto Supply in Schoharie until his retirement in 1996. He became a licensed real estate broker, fulfilling his greatest hobby, and continued working at Richmondville Realty for several years.

Roger also enjoyed renovating old homes. He attended West Fulton United Methodist Church for the past fourteen years.

Survivors include his wife, Doris (Gilmore) Ebert, whom he married April 19, 1955; his three children: Karen (David) McFarland of Middleburgh, Peter (Sherry) Ebert of Greenville, and Steven (Suzanne) Ebert of Schenevus; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his brother: Allen Ebert of Port Jefferson.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh with Rev. Neil Irwin officiating. Inurnment with military honors will follow in Old Stone Fort Cemetery. Family and friends are also invited to attend a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home prior to the service on Friday from 1 to 2 PM.
