Cobleskill- Roger F. Becker, 94, of Myers Road, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at his residence following a brief illness.

Born December 29, 1918 at the Schuyler Lake Farm in Cobleskill, he was the son of Frank S. and Matilda (Van Deusen) Becker.

Roger was a graduate of the former Cobleskill Central School and was a dairy farmer since 1938. He was the proprietor of Becker's Mountain Dairy Inc., and the Dairy Deli.

As a community minded individual, Roger served on the Board of Directors at Cobleskill Hospital in its infancy, the Board of Directors for the Bank of Richmondville as well as for 26 years at SUNY Cobleskill Board of Directors. He devoted himself for 53 years serving on the Cobleskill Fair Board and also the former Mechanics Exchange Bank Board of Directors. Roger was an active member of the Exchange Club of Cobleskill.

He was also a member of the Zion Lutheran Church.

Roger was predeceased by his sons: Frank and Ronald Becker; his sisters: Harriet Knapp and Katie O'Neill, and his former wife, Harriet O'Brian Becker.

Survivors include his two sons: John Becker of Edgewater, FL, and Roger J. Becker; six grandchildren: Frank Becker, Matthew Becker, Erin France, Casey Becker, Brendon Becker, and Elizabeth Zeh; and one great-grandson: Tyler France.

Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation to be held from 11 AM to 3 PM on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. The funeral service will be private. Spring interment will be in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
