Robert Zach

HAMPTON, VA - Robert (Bob) Zach, 86, died Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwelath University in Richmond, VA.

He was born January 26, 1924 and has joined his father and mother, Frank and Josephine Zach, and brothers, Frankie Zach, Louie Zach, Stevie Zach along with other loving family members.

Left with cherished memories are his wife of 63 years, Alice Zach, sons: Richard Zach, Terry Zach, daughter in-law Wendy Zach, and granddaughter, Allison Zach.

Bob retired from Langley Air Force Base in 1969 after serving his country for 23 years. He enlisted with the Army Air Corp in 1942 where he served in the Pacific Theater during WWII leaving the service in 1946. He then returned to the military in 1952 serving with the Air Force during the Korean War and 2 tours in Vietnam. After retirement Bob went on to start a second career working at Anheuser-Busch Brewery in Williamsburg where he worked until he retired to fully concentrate on his life long dream, Bob Zach's Bowling Workshop. During his more than 60 years of bowling he made many friends and loved his extended bowling family.

A memorial will be held at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in Hampton, Va. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh, NY with Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Keyserkill Cemetery, Keyserkill, NY. Friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home from 12 to 1 PM on Sat., prior to the service.
