Robert Young

Cobleskill- Robert C. Young, 86, of State Route 145, died Sunday, February 8, 2015, at Cobleskill Regional Hospital following a brief illness.

Born November 29, 1928 in Seward, he was the son of Elmer and Ina (Hilsinger) Young. Bob was a lifelong area resident, graduating from the former Cobleskill Central School in 1947.

He worked on his father's dairy farm for many years and at Agway Farm Store in Cobleskill, too. Later he became a bus driver for Cobleskill Central School District and retired in 1999.

He was a member of the Lawyersville Reformed Church and its men's club. He was also a member of the Rock District Grange and was an avid bowler.

His wife, Rosemarie, predeceased him on October 11, 2004, along with his stepdaughter: Nancy Pannito; his brother: Myron Young, and his sister: Frances Young.

Survivors include his children: Brian (Lisa) Young of Sharon Springs, Bruce Young of Sharon Springs, Brenda (Duane) Smullen of Rochester; stepson: David Greissler of Delanson; stepdaughter: Gail Greissler of Schenectady; eleven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, February 13, 2015 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill where a period of visitation will be held from 4 to 6 PM at the funeral home, prior to the service. Spring interment will be in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
