Robert Tissiere

Hyndsville - Robert, "Bob", L. Tissiere, 81, of Clove Road, died Monday, April 16, 2012 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.

Born December 11, 1930 in Janesville, NY, he was a son of Leon R. and Verna (Spooner) Tissiere.

Bob was a resident of this area all his life, graduating from the former Cobleskill Central School. He had a lifelong love for farming, operating the Tissiere Farms for many years, and continued to be actively involved even after retirement. He was a member of the local farm organizations.

Bob was also a rural mail carrier, retiring after fifteen years of service. Most recently he was employed with Carquest of Cobleskill.

He was a member of the Zion Rural Cemetery Association, and was active with maintaining the cemetery grounds. Bob also assisted his wife, BJ, with the hospital auxiliary functions.

He was predeceased by his wife, BJ, who died August 12, 2010 and his brother, James Tissiere, who died Nov. of 2010.

Bob was the Father of: Daniel (Janet), Denise (Tom), Jamie (Brian), Michele, Robert (Karen), Brett (Elizabeth), and Tracey (Gary). He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren: Danielle (Ernie) Ramirez, Courtney Tissiere, Brooke and Logan Stelzner, Ben and Chelsea Broadwell, Nic Nitti, Cherie Tissiere, Luke and Caleb Sommers, Quinn Tissiere, Marielise and Gabriel Tissiere, and Brittany (Luke) Rakoske; four great-grandchildren: Zara and Zane Ramirez and Eva and Aaron Rakoske; two siblings: Mary Lou Harris, Phillip (Shirley) Tissiere, and brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws: Richard and Lynn Ottman and Angie Tissiere.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill, with Rev. Paul Messner officiating. Family and friends are also invited to the church for a period of visitation to be held prior to the service on Sat., from 10 to 11 AM. Inurnment will be private.
