Carlisle- Robert P. Teytand, Jr., 61, of State Highway 20, died Thursday, March 5, 2015 at St. Peter's Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born November 2, 1953 in Schenectady, he was the son of Robert and Glenda (Mackey) Teytand, Sr.
Bob was a 1972 graduate of the former Cobleskill Central School and received his Associate's degree in 1981 from SUNY Cobleskill.
He was a United States Air Force veteran, proudly serving his country from 1975 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1979. From 1984 to 1997, he was an airport fire fighter with the Air National Guard and then with Stratton Air National Guard Base in Schenectady until 2013.
Since Bob was 16, he was a member of the Carlisle Volunteer Fire Department, where he was a former chief.
Bob enjoyed woodworking and remodeling all of his home, with the exception of one room.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Adams, whom he married September 21, 1994; two stepsons: William (Jennifer) Adams of Middleburgh and Benjamin (Erin) Adams of Schoharie; his sister: Vivian Dekeado of Bakersfield, CA; four grandchildren: Ethan, Brayden, Caroline and Andrew Adams; two step-grandchildren: Adrian Lindemann, and Eamon Brockway.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with Rev. Bert Mayne of the Carlisle Presbyterian Church officiating. A period of visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM on Saturday, March 14.
