Robert Spickerman

Robert N. Spickerman, 88, of Cliff Street, died Thurs. April 19, 2007 peacefully, at his home.

Mr. Spickerman was born in Middleburgh, NY on Oct. 4, 1918 a son of the late Clark and Edna Nethaway Spickerman. He graduated from Middleburgh Central School and went on to graduate from Cornell University with a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering. Mr. Spickerman served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946. He was employed by the United States Postal Service, as Middleburgh Postmaster, from Oct.1, 1964 until his retirement on Dec. 16,1988.

Mr. Spickerman was a former member of the Masons, a member of the National Association of Postmasters of the United States, a member and former president of the Middleburgh Central School Board of Education and a member and past president of the Middleburgh Rotary. Mr. Spickerman was also a treasurer of the Middleburgh Library. He was a member of the Middleburgh Reformed Church and served on it's governing board.

Mr. Spickerman coached in the local pee-wee league and enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. He was also an avid Yankees fan.

Mr. Spickerman is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helene Priester Spickerman, of Middleburgh, whom he married on July 6, 1946 and

A Memorial service will be held at 3:00P.M., on Sunday, April 22, 2007, at the Middleburgh Reformed Church. Pastor Mary Wisner will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in the Middleburgh Cemetery. Cremation took place at the Vale Crematory, Schenectady, NY.
