Robert D. Slater

March 6, 1955 — April 19, 2022

Warnerville- Robert D. Slater, 67, of Badeau Lane, died Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home in Stamford where he had been a resident for the past several years.

Born March 6, 1955, in Cobleskill, he was the son of the late Stanley and Eileen (Gahm) Slater.

Bob is also predeceased by his grandchildren: Olivia, Brandon, Michael and Elizabeth.

Bob was a graduate of the former Cobleskill Central School.  After he graduated he enlisted into the USNAVY. He was employed as a long-haul driver for Golden State Foods for several years before his health failed him and forced him into retirement.

Bob very much enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, playing baseball and fishing, deep sea fishing with Jeffrey Brown (his nephew), taking his wife and Travis ("Goober") with him on his hauls for work, being outside doing yardwork and gardening and of course BBQ's . He was an avid fan of the NY Mets and the NY Jets and Nascar Mark Martin. He adored Reba McEntire.

Forever cherishing their memories are his wife, Lora (Schrader) Slater, whom he married In 1976, his children: Heidi (Tyler) of Lecanto, Fl, Heather (Michael) of Cherry Valley, Holly of Howes Cave, and Henry (Samantha) of Fayetteville, NC, his grandchildren: Travis, Erika, Erinn, Bridgett, Alex, Madison, Brody, Camren, Taylen, his brothers and sisters:  Philip (Sandra) of Cobleskill, Theresa of Schoharie, Thomas of Middleburgh, Stephen (MaryJo) of Worcester, Penny (Weslie) Baldwin of Cobleskill, Joan (Robert) Palmatier of Cobleskill, Richard (Sherry) of Cobleskill. Bob is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to a funeral service that will be held at 2PM on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with Rev. Donald Klob officiating.  All are welcome to attend a period of visitation from 1PM to 2PM prior to the service.  Cremation will follow the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Stroke Foundation.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY.
