Warnerville- Robert J. Orth Sr., 76, of Greenbush Road, died suddenly
Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital.
Mr. Orth was born November 28, 1930 in Jersey City, NJ, the son of Ferdinand and Edith (Fowler) Orth. He was a United States Navy veteran, serving from 1951 until 1955 when he received an honorable discharge and was a member of the American Legion Pat Tillman Post 117 in Arizona.
Mr. Orth has resided in this area for the past 52 years and retired from General Electric where he was a welder. He operated the Orth's Hereford Farm in Warnerville.
Mr. Orth was a member of the Schoharie County Conservation Club and the NYS Muzzleloaders Association.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Cindy, and a sister, Carol Orth.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine (Terpenning) Orth, whom he married Sept. 28, 1957; a son, Robert J. (Paula) Orth, Jr. of Davenport, FL; 3 daughters: Cathie (James) Annis of Howes Cave, Carol (Terry) Hanes of Carlisle, and Christine ( Michael) Bender of Warnerville; and 4 grandchildren: Dylan Orth, Elizabeth Annis, Gregory and Alisha Bender.
Friends may call at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Sat., prior to the service. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM at the funeral home with Vena Ray officiating. Burial will be in Bramanville-Prospect Cemetery.
