Sharon Springs- Robert C. Nirschl, 82, of Honeybee Road, died Saturday, September 10, 2016 at his residence with his family at his side.

Born June 6, 1934 in Patria, he was the son of the late Anton and Elinor (Stanton) Nirschl.

Bob was a United States Army veteran proudly serving his country from 1957 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1959.

He was a dairy farmer most of his life on the family farm, but retired from SUNY Cobleskill after eleven years as a utility worker. He was a beekeeper for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice L. (Scott) Nirschl, whom he married May 28, 1960; three daughters: Valerie (David) Banick of St. Johnsville, Ann (Joseph) Pendolf of Fort Plain, and Jill Nirschl of Sharon Springs; four grandchildren: Angela, Lawrence, and John Banick, and Dominic Pendolf; six great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Emmit, Daisy, and Tanner Banick, Mariah Fredette, and Meadow Wilder; ten siblings: Margaret Becker, Josephine King, Betty Cullen, Beverly Kachmarik, Susan Davis, Allen, Edwin, Richard, David and Stephen Nirschl; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews; and many sisters and brothers-in-law.

Bob was predeceased by his brother, Anton, on November 26, 2013.

A funeral service will be held at 9:00 AM, Monday, September 12, 2016 at Lawyersville Reformed Church, 14957 State Route 145, Cobleskill with Rev. Richard Bean officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sharon Cemetery, Leesville. There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill and Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home of Middleburgh.
