SHARON SPRINGS - Robert Lee Brown, 72, of Engleville Rd., a lifetime resident of Sharon Springs, died Monday, March 19, 2012 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown.
He was born on March 2, 1940 in the Town of Sharon at the home of his parents, Edward and Dora (Mickle) Brown.
Bob spent his time mowing, bushhogging, gardening, and cutting wood. He loved the outdoors. He worked for the Town of Sharon Highway Department for 27 ½ , and the last 13 years as Deputy Superintendent. His favorite truck was the double wing plow. He was also the Dog Warden for 6 years.
His is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joan (Sperbeck) Brown of Sharon Springs, his four children, Bobbie Brown of Morris, Patty Brown of Sharon Springs, Tony (Dori) Brown of Berne, and Lori (Terry) Ford of Canada, as well as his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Slate Hill Cemetery in Sharon, NY with Rev. Raymond Richards officiating.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, Inc., PO Box 40, Howes Cave, NY 12092.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill and Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh.
