Robert Erland

Richmondville - Robert L. Erland, 66, formerly of Richmondville and Cobleskill, died Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.

Born January 16, 1951 in Southampton, NY, he was the son of the late Calvin and Margaret (Oettinger) Erland, local residents for many years.

Bob was a 1970 graduate of Southampton High School. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, receiving an honorable discharge in 1971. He was employed as a certified Evinrude service mechanic in Hampton Bays, NY, for several years until injuries from a car collision prevented further employment.

In 1980, Bob moved to this area with his parents and has resided in Richmondville, and then Cobleskill, until the closing of Eden Park Nursing Home, when he was then transferred to Robinson Terrace Nursing Home in Stamford.

Survivors include his sister, Carolyn Bustinza of Canyon Lake, TX; niece, Melodie (Brower) Neilan of East Weymouth, MA; great-nephew Owen W. Neilan also of East Weymouth; plus multiple cousins scattered across the country and locally.

A memorial service will be held Monday, December 11th  at 2:30 PM in the Bathgate Activities Room at Robinson Terrace, 28652 St. Hwy 23, Stamford, NY. Private burial will be through Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home at Southampton Cemetery on Long Island in the family lot.
