Robert L Caywood, Sr.

Cobleskill- Robert L. Caywood, Sr., 96, formerly of Cobleskill, died Friday, November 11, 2022 at Baptist Health Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Scotia where he had been a resident for the past year.
Born March 25, 1926 in Binghamton, NY, he was the son of Arthur and Lillian (Schrader) Caywood.
Bob was a proud United States Army veteran, serving during WW II and in the Battle of the Bulge. He received several decorations for his service and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was a lifetime member of the former VFW Post 5088 in Cobleskill.
For many years, Bob worked in the maintenance department at SUNY Cobleskill. He was a comunicant of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cobleskill.
Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing with his boys.
On Sept. 5, 1957, he wed Grace Melisi and she predeceased him on June 19, 2004.
Survivors include his children: Melissa Caywood of Ballston Spa, Robert L. (Kim) Caywood, Jr. of Peoria, IL, and Joseph (Kathy) Caywood of Albany; his granddaughter, Kelly Caywood and her son, Jacob Caywood.
A graveside service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022 at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Quarry St., Cobleskill, NY with Father Joseph Arockiasomy officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill, NY
