Cobleskill- Robert L. Blair, 91, of Cobleskill, NY, passed away on December 5, 2022, at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was born August 4, 1931, in Queens, NY and was the son of McNeil and Loretta (Weitz) Blair.
Robert worked as a Bricklayer for the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Union Local # 1 of New York City until his retirement. He married Winifred Quinn on August 5, 1950, in Flushing, NY. She predeceased him on March 29, 2019.
Always the entertainer, he would amaze children with his magic tricks of taking off his finger and head. He enjoyed attending auto racing events and was, along with his Dodge truck and tall construction scaffolds, a very recognizable figure at races in Bridgehampton and Watkins Glen in the late 60’s and early 70’s. A lover of ice cream, especially chocolate, he enjoyed weekend outings on his Wellcraft boat and later, cutting and splitting firewood, plowing snow, cutting lawns, as well as good ole country living in the foothills of Cobleskill.
His memory will live on with his surviving family members, son Robert W. and Joan Blair of Sayville, NY, daughter Loretta Blair of Cobleskill, son Thomas and Cesar Blair of Lloyd Harbor, NY, his grandchildren, Robert F. Blair, Christopher Hawkes, Matthew Hawkes, and Abigail Patulski, and great-grandson Henley Johanson.
A graveside service with inurnment will take place on Monday, December 12, 2022, at 11:30 am at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Farmingdale, NY.
