Seward- Felix (Phil) L. Richards, 92, of State Route 145, passed away Monday, March 13, 2006, at Bassett Hospital of Schoharie County in Cobleskill.
Born January 4, 1914 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of Ladislaus and Cathanna (Ozaruecka) Rydzewicz. Mr. Richards was a United States Army Veteran, serving from 1943 until 1946 when he received an honorable discharge.
After 50 years of carpentry with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local 7 of Long Island, Mr. Richards retired but in his 80's built his own home. He had lived in this area for the past 10 years and was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Cobleskill. Mr. Richards was an avid gardener.
He was predeceased by a son, Robert Richards, of Shirley, Long Island, who died in 2004, and all his sisters and brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret (Petitt) Richards, whom he married February 19, 1944; a son and daughter-in-law: Mark and Patricia Richards of Carlisle; a daughter-in-law: Gail Richards of Shirley, Long Island; 3 grandsons: Robert Richards, Jr. and Jason Richards both of Shirley, Long Island, and William Richards of Carlisle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 16, at St. Vincent de Paul Church Washington Ave. Cobleskill with Father Thomas Holmes as celebrant. Friends may call from 9 to 11 AM on Thursday at church, prior to the Mass. Burial will be at Gerald B.H. Solomon Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Church Washington Ave. Cobleskill, NY 12043.
