Richmondville- Richard "Dick" T. Robarge, 90, formerly of Richmondville, died Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Palatine Nursing Home with his family at his side.

Born May 4, 1930 in Amsterdam, NY, he was the son of the late Wendle and Emma (Spawn) Robarge.

Dick was a proud veteran, serving in the US Army from 1951 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1953.  For many years he was employed as a machinist at Breton Industries in Amsterdam.

Involved in his community, Dick was a member of the Richmondville Volunteer Fire Department where he was “Santa” for the youngsters annual Christmas Party for over 20 years, Richmondville Youth Organization, President of the Richmondville Senior Citizens, a Cub and Scout Master as well as Umpire for Youth Baseball.  Dick enjoyed gardening and coin collecting.  He was an avid collector of model fire engines.

He was a communicant of the former St. Anna’s Catholic Church in Summit and then St. Vincent de Paul Church in Cobleskill.

Richard was predeceased by his daughter, Ann Bascomb; brother, Robert Robarge; sister, Mary Ann Bradt; and wife, Lorraine, whom he married July 26, 1951.

Cherishing a lifetime of memories are his children:  Mark Robarge of Niskayuna and Barbara (Mike) Taylor of Pattersonville; grandchildren:  Stacy Sisson (Thomas Cullen) of Cobleskill, Derek (Janet) Taylor of Gloversville, Shelby Taylor (Darryl Bunol) of Floyd, NY, Andrew Robarge of Niskayuna, Logan and Micaila Robarge of St. Johnsville; and his sister, Patricia (Maurice) Sperbeck of Naples, FL.

A private graveside service with military honors will be held at Richmondville Rural Cemetery, Richmondville, NY.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Richmondville Vol. Fire Dept., PO Box 481, Richmondville, NY 12149 or Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, Inc., PO Box 40, Howes Cave, NY 12092.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY  12043.
