Richard D. Shultes, 86, of Cotton Hill Road, died Sunday, August 24, 2008 at Ellis Hospital following a brief illness.
Mr. Shultes was born on November 24, 1921 in Huntersland, NY, a son of the late Benjamin and Helen (Bray) Shultes. He was a graduate of Middleburgh Central School and served in the United States Coast Guard from 1942-1946. Mr. Shultes worked as a turbine winder at General Electric in Schenectady, NY and was a member of the Union Local 103. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts and he coached little league. Mr. Shultes was a member of the Middleburgh Rod and Gun Club and also taught hunting safety. He enjoyed bowling and was inducted into the Schoharie County Men's Bowling Association, Hall of Fame. Mr. Shultes belonged to the American Legion, Timothy Murphy Post # 248 in Middleburgh, the Knights of Columbus and was a Communicant of St. Catherine's Church
He is survived by his wife, Helen B. Shultes, whom he married on November 10, 1946 and

A Memorial mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Thursday August 28, 2008 at St. Catherine's Church, Main St., Middleburgh, NY. Father Peter Chepaitis, O.F.M. of Bethany Ministries will be celebrant. Inurnment will follow in Middleburgh Cemetery. Cremation took place at Vale Crematory, Schenectady, NY.
