Middleburgh- Richard A. German, Sr., 75, formerly of Middleburgh and most recently of Schenectady, died Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
Born May 13, 1937 in Conesville, he was the son of Velmore and Daisy Mae (Brown) German.
Richard was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict from 1955 until 1957 when he received an honorable discharge.
Richard was employed as a linesman at Adirondack Beverage in Scotia. He was a member of the NRA, Bass Masters, and Buck Masters and enjoyed hunting, camping, and boating. Along with being an outdoorsman, he found pleasure in being with his family and vacationing together.
He was predeceased by a grandson and two great-granddaughters.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel (Schrom) German, whom he married Sept. 21, 1958; three daughters: Regina (John) Bailey of Warnerville, Elaine (David) Diamond, Sr. of Middleburgh, and Starleen (John) Wood of West Fulton; five sons: Richard (Anna) German, Jr. of Middleburgh, Rodney (Tammy) German of Schenectady, Ronald (Jamie) German of Scotia, Tracy German of Schenectady, James German of Schenectady; two sisters: Frances Bevins of Bloomville, and Esther Wortley of Saugerties; a brother: William German, Sr. of Trenton, NJ; twenty-eight grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church officiating.. Inurnment will follow in Gallupville Rural Cemetery with military honors. There will be no calling hours.
