Cobleskill- Richard Van Deusen, 87, of State Route 10, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Otsego Manor.

Born August 19, 1927 in Decatur, he was the son of Harry Van Deusen and Golda "Lucy" Van Deusen Terpening.

Richard worked twenty-two years at Schoharie County Co-Op prior to retiring from NYS Dept. of Transportation where he was a construction equipment operator. He was a member of the Hyndsville United Methodist Church and life member and former president of the Fraternal Organization of Eagles Aeries of Cobleskill #2695.

Richard's hobbies included working on tractors and old engines, traveling during his earlier retirement years, and taking the jeep on joy rides on back roads.

A son, William, predeceased him in 1994.

Survivors include his wife, Frances (Proctor) Van Deusen, whom he married June 14, 1946; two daughters: Maxine (Richard) Christman of Delanson and Jan (Donald) Pendagast of Port St. Lucy, FL; his son: Warren (Patricia) Van Deusen of Cobleskill; daughter-in-law: Linda Van Deusen of Howes Cave; two sisters: Charlotte Van Deusen of Rhinebeck and Jane Brandt of Caroga Lake; seven grandchildren: Amy (Curt) Van Steele of Gallupville, Mary (Mike) Hinkley of Roxbury, Caryn Anderson of Colonie, Michael Van Deusen of Howes Cave, Ryan (Nicole) Van Deusen of Bristol, RI, Donald Pendagast III (Zachary Stewart) of Hartford, CT, Christopher (Candice) Pendagast of Kingston; five great-grandchildren: Natalie and Joshua Mitchell, Brett and Kirsten Anderson, and Parker Van Deusen.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 12, 2014 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with David Houck officiating. A period of visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the service from 12PM to 1PM. Spring interment will be in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
