Cobleskill- Richard G. Bascomb, 50, of State Route 10, died Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital with his loving family at his side.

Born February 26, 1962 in Cobleskill, he was the son of Marion (Rickard) Bascomb, who survives him, and the late Harold Bascomb.

Rick attended the former Cobleskill Central School and had been employed at Cobleskill Stone Products for several years.

He had a tremendous love for his four children and his family. An avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Northeast Hunters' Association. Rick also enjoyed country music.

He was predeceased by his father, Harold Bascomb, and two brothers: Louis and Robert Bascomb.

Survivors include his children: Brycen Bascomb (John Hatch) of Disputanta, VA, Benjamin Bascomb and his fiancé, Michelle Wenzell of Oneonta, Margaret Bascomb of Hartwick, and Brandon Bascomb of Purchase; his mother: Marion (Rickard) Bascomb of Cobleskill; and five siblings: Paul (MaryAnn) Bascomb of Cobleskill, Michael Bascomb ( Diane Spano ) of Cobleskill, Kathy (Mike) Moore of Cobleskill, Connie (Ed) Elsensohn of Cobleskill, and Colleen (Darius) Benson of Cobleskill; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 9:00 AM on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill. Officiating will be Rev. Linda Bean, chaplain at Cobleskill Regional Hospital, with Sister Connie James assisting. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. Burial will follow the service at Bramanville-Prospect Cemetery.
