COBLESKILL- Richard "Dick" J. Ackerbauer, Jr., 64, of Kings Lane in the Town of Seward, died suddenly Saturday, November 18, 2006 at Bassett Hospital of Schoharie County in Cobleskill.
Mr. Ackerbauer was born September 21, 1942 in Johnstown, NY and was the son of Richard J. and Alice (McGivern) Ackerbauer, Sr.
He was a 1960 graduate of Johnstown High School and had lived in the Cobleskill area since 1978. After 33 years of employment with Verizon, he retired in 1992 and was Manager of Cobleskill Bowling Center for eight years. He was also a Sales Representative for TAS in Cobleskill, Treasurer for the Northeastern Bowling League of this area, and a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Mr. Ackerbauer is survived by his wife, Mary Giovanni Ackerbauer, whom he married on April 12, 1964, two daughters, Kim Holzapfelof Cobleskill and Amy Sachs of Utica, one son, Richard J. (Jennifer) Ackerbauer of Cobleskill, one sister, Catherine Robinson of FL.;two brothers, Charles Ackerbauer and Peter Ackerbauer, both of Johnstown, beloved grandchildren, Lauren Holzapfel, Amanda Ackerbauer, Meagan Holzapfel, Richard J. Ackerbauer IV, Natasha Sachs, Marina Sachs, Robert Ackerbauer, and good friend Thomas Sachs of Cobleskill.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 25, 2006 at 1:00 pm at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill with the Father Thomas F. Holmes as celebrant. There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cobleskill Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 451, Cobleskill, NY 12043.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home 171 Elm St. Cobleskill and Palmer & Shaylor Inc. Funeral Home 134 River St. Middleburgh.
