RICHMONDVILLE- Raymond A Young, 78, of Main Street, died Friday, December, 2, 2011 at his residence.

He was born October 29, 1933 in the Town of Broome, NY and was the son of Austin and Florence (King) Young.

Ray worked as a crane operator for the Turbine Division at General Electric Co. in Schenectady, NY for many years before his retirement. He also was the proprietor of Valley Video in Middleburgh, NY and ran the Decker Poultry Farm for a few years as well. He was a member of the Town of Broome Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Benevolent and Protective Order Elks Lodge 2040 in Cobleskill.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Virginia who died in 2001 and a brother, Vernon who died in 2009.

Ray is survived by his wife, Kathleen Young, of Stamford, NY, his children, Raymond A. (Myrtle) Young, Jr. of South Cairo, NY, James A. (Lisa) Young of Gilboa, NY, Melvin (Amy) Terrell of Richmondville, NY, Melody Hathaway of Cobleskill, NY, Michael (Jennifer) Terrell of Northville, NY, his siblings, Margaret Nelson of Cleveland, OH, Alice Palmatier of Middleburgh, NY, Carol (Don) Mackey of Carlisle, NY, Lawrence (Gert) Young of Canastota, NY, Donald (Nancy) Young of Gloversville, NY, Kenneth Thorn of Clifton Park, NY, as well as 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 1:00 pm, at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY with Rev. Carol Coltrain officiating. A period of visitation will be held from 12:00 until 1:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow in Livingstonville Cemetery.
