Richmondville- Randall "Hoopy" L. Betts, 59, of Beards Hollow Road, died Sunday,
January 8, 2017, at his sister's home in Warnerville, following a short illness.
Born April 9, 1957 in Cobleskill, he was the son of the late Donald and Eleanor (Angle) Betts.
Hoopy graduated from the former Cobleskill Central School and had moved to South Carolina for several years before returning to Richmondville. He was maintenance supervisor at Mill Services, Inc. in Cobleskill until his illness prevented him from continuing to work.
Hoopy enjoyed hunting, camping, and cooking. He loved when his family and friends would gather for his barbeques. His pride and joy, and his world, were all about his grandson, Bentley.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by an infant son, Donald Betts; his brother, Harold Betts; and his sister, Lori Ostrander.
Survivors include his son, Stephen "Josh" Betts and his fiancé, Rebecca, along with their son, Bentley; his six siblings: Glen (Terri) Betts of Statesville, NC, Dennis Betts of Richmondville, Diane (John) Roney of Warnerville, Jeffrey Betts of Fairmont, W. VA, Ernest Betts of Warnerville, and Tommy (Sandy) Ostrander of Richmondville; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the Summit Conservation Club, 109 Club Road, Summit, NY. There will be no formal services.
