R. Austin

Cobleskill- Marie R. Austin, 87, died Monday June 18, 2012 at Robinson Terrace in Stamford, NY.

Marie was born on June 10, 1925 in Albany, NY, a daughter of the late Mary (Linster) and Theodore G. Rew.

Marie graduated from the former Cobleskill Central School in 1943 and from Syracuse University in 1947. Formerly of Cobleskill, Marie lived most of her married life in South Dayton, NY before returning to Cobleskill in 2004. She was a homemaker most of her life and enjoyed reading and solving crossword puzzles. Marie was of Lutheran faith and had attended Zion Lutheran Church in Cobleskill, NY.

Marie was married to Samuel H. Austin in 1950 until his death in 2004. She was also predeceased by her brothers: Ted Rew and Gordon Rew and her aunt: Mildred Rew Whitbeck.

She is survived by her son: Thomas Austin and his companion Angela Davies of Bursins, Switzerland; her sister-in-laws: Elsie Jean Rew of Latham, NY, Sally Smith of Temecula, CA; her cousins: John Van Voris of Tampa, FL., Sarah Dinnel of Summit, NY, Anne Hendrix of Schoharie, NY, Henry J. Whitbeck of Cobleskill, NY, Jane Whitbeck, Cobleskill, NY

A Memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, June 20, 2010 at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St. Cobleskill, NY. Rev. Jonathan Litzner of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Richmondville,NY will officiate. There will be no public visitation. Inurnment will be private. Cremation took place at the Vale Crematory in Schenectady, NY.
