Phyllis Plevik

Phyllis C. Plevik, 88, of Campbell Hill Rd., died Tuesday October 13, 2009 peacefully at her home.

Mrs. Plevik was born on May 23, 1921 in Bronx, NY, a daughter of the late Catherine (Lisanti) and Joseph Galella.

She was an accountant for many years, working for Square D, in Bronx, NY.

While in the Bronx, Mrs. Plevik was a member of the Sons of Italy. After moving to Middleburgh, she became a communicant of Our Lady of the Valley and also the church's Rosary Society.

She was a member of the Huntersland Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, the Middleburgh Golden Age Club and she performed with the former Hummingbird's Kazoo Band. Mrs. Plevik enjoyed sewing and crafting.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph G. Plevik on November 30, 1989.

She is survived by her daughters: Carol Ann Plevik of Middleburgh, NY, Kathleen Scheffold of Nanuet, NY, and Mary-Jo Gilligan of Middleburgh, NY; sisters: Catherine Rieckhoff of Westchester, NY, Angela Halblewachs of Westchester, NY and Geraldine Salvani of Texas; brothers: Joseph Galella of Westchester, NY and Raymond Galella of Islip, NY; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am, Saturday October 17, 2009 at Our Lady of the Valley, formerly St. Catherine's Church, Main St., Middleburgh, NY. Father Thomas Holmes will be celebrant.

Burial will follow in Middleburgh Cemetery.

Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, Friday October 16, 2009 at the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh, NY.
