Middleburgh- Phyllis Anne Crewell of Sunnyside Road, Middleburgh, passed peacefully at her home after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease with her husband of 47 years at her side.
Born September 3, 1938 in Schoharie she was the daughter of the late William and Helen (Muller) Armlin.
Phyllis was co-owner of Crewell Brothers Dairy farms for many years. She raked many fields of hay numerous times, milked the cows, kept the books, and ran for parts.
She was an elected and appointed assessor also for 26 years in Middleburgh and a few years in Richmondville, also. Phyllis served as past president of the Schoharie County Assessors' Association, was a past member Farm Bureau, Republican Club, and Town Zoning Board of Appeals. She also was a nurse's aid at one time and a waitress.
Busy as she was on the farm, she miraculously found time to sew blanket beds to donate to the animal shelter and clip newspaper articles about her children, grandchildren and other family members.
She enjoyed gardening (canning and freezing) and tending her flowers. Phyllis looked forward to picking "fiddleheads" each spring and passing on this tradition to her children and grandchildren. She loved to pick blueberries and strawberries and made many pies and blueberry buckle coffee cake over the years. Everyone knew she made the best coffee in town. She co-hosted annual BBQs for 20 years and she loved to dance. She could swim some laps at the pond, too. She will be remembered with kindness from many.
