Phillip Roland Hanley

Phillip R. Hanley, 73, of Sharon Springs, NY passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025. He was born on October 27, 1951, in Norwalk, CT. He was a devoted husband to Roxanne, and loving father to Tanya, Tracy, Joseph (Felicia) and Trisha (Anthony).

Phil was hard-working and dedicated. He spent 38 years at Morlock News Co., until retirement due to medical issues.

Phil had a love for music, muscle cars and tinkering in his garage. In his younger years, he could be spotted with his wife on the dance floor with a freshly combed DA and his favorite leather jacket. Later in life, he traded his leather jacket for a Yankees cap and spending time with his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

Though Phil may not have liked being the center of attention, he deserves to have his long years of marital and fatherly love honored. He was a man of integrity, kindness, generosity and wit, and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Phil was predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Dorothy Hanley; siblings, Allan Hanley, Robert Hanley, Timothy Hanley, Susan Marquis, and Betty Hanley.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, children, grandchildren, Kurt, Andrew, Emma, Cody, Brandon, Zoe, Anthony, Izzaic, and Avery. As well as a sister Jean Jones, mother-in-law Emma Guy, and many friends and extended family members who will mis him dearly.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 12:00-2:00 pm at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill, NY. A Celebration of Life will follow at Trish and Tony's House, 547 Settles Mountain Rd., Cobleskill, NY.

We find comfort in knowing that dad's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared and the memories we will cherish forever.
