Cobleskill- Philip J. Sheehan, 78, died Thursday, July 12, 2012 at home from cancer.
He was born Oct. 4, 1933 in St. Albans, NY, the son of Thomas and Emma (Terski) Sheehan. He graduated from Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School and received an Associate Degree from SUNY Farmingdale.
Philip was a Korean War veteran, serving with the First Marine Aircraft Wing in Korea in 1952 and 1953. He retired from the former Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. as a traveling operator in 1991.
He is predeceased by a sister, Sister Cecilia Sheehan.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Butler Sheehan, whom he married Dec. 24, 1990 and four children: Patricia (Tom) Faughnan of Kennett Square, PA, Philip (Susan) of Pueblo West, CO, Cynthia (Brian) Forte of Guilderland, Sean of Old Greenwich, CT; a brother, Dr. Thomas Sheehan of Gainesville, FL; a sister, Miriam Kelly of San Antonio, TX, and fourteen grandchildren.
Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Iroquois Indian Museum, Archaeology Department, PO Box 7, Howes Cave, NY 12092.
Philip's family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers in the Cobleskill office of the Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care for their friendship and care.
