Middleburgh- Philip G. Rivenburg, Sr. 78, of Bouck Road died peacefully, Sunday March 3, 2013 at his home, in the arms of his loving wife, Marjory.

Philip was born on August 28, 1934 in Middleburgh to the late Evaleen (Lawyer) and Hezekiah Rivenburg.

He graduated from Middleburgh Central School in 1952 and went on to serve in the United States Air Force until 1960.

Philip worked as a carpenter for many years both locally and for Local 370 in Albany before retiring.

Philip dedicated forty years of service to the Otschodela Council of the Boy Scouts of America as an adult leader. He was especially proud to receive the Silver Beaver Award in 1999, the Boy Scout's highest honor.

Beyond woodworking, Philip enjoyed hunting, the great outdoors and spending time with his family, especially the children.

Philip was predeceased by his parents and his brothers: Larry, Garry and Hezekiah.

He is survived by his wife, Marjory E. (Burchell) Rivenburg, of Middleburgh, whom he married on July 30, 1961; daughter: Deborah J. (Glenn) Winter of Cobleskill; son: Philip G. (Lara) Rivenburg, Jr. of Cairo; sisters: Sadie J. Nikolaus of Stamford, Hilda M. Kernozik of Voorheesville; grandchildren: Patricia Rivenburg and Corbin Rivenburg both of Cairo, Brandon Winter of Cobleskill and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St. Middleburgh, NY with Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church officiating . Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home, prior to the service from 10 to 11 AM Saturday. Inurnment will follow the service in Middleburgh Cemetery. Cremation took place at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
