Peter Shaver

Cobleskill- Peter F. Shaver, 72, of Myers Road, died unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, June 23, 2010.

Born February 2, 1938 in Albany, NY, he was the son of Floyd Mansfield Shaver and Kathryne (Becker) Shaver O'Neill.

Peter retired from Bechtel of Schenectady, where he was employed as an engineer technician.

Peter found pleasure in helping family and friends, gardening, woodworking, camping, home maintenance, cooking, and especially caring for his granddaughter.

He served in the United States Army Reserves from 1956 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1957.

Survivors include his wife Carol (DuMond) Shaver, whom he married Nov. 25, 1965; two daughters: Andrea (Ralph) Falco and Laurel Garber both of Cobleskill; a granddaughter, Annika Falco; and a step-brother: Gene P. O'Neill of Hutchinson, MN.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St, Cobleskill with Rev. Pamela Mikel Hayes of the Cobleskill United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Cobleskill Rural Cemetery. Friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home from 1 to 2 PM on Sat., prior to the service.
