Gilboa- Peter F. Goodwin, 59, of Campbell Road, died Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital.
Peter was born December 31, 1949 in Mount Vernon, NY, a son of Jesse and Helen (Rondino) Goodwin.
A professional firefighter for the Mount Vernon Fire Dept., he retired after 19 years of service when he became disabled. Peter was also a United States Army Veteran serving as a Tank Commander.
He resided in Gilboa for thirty years where he was co-owner of the Gilboa Stables, and was active with Saratoga Race Horses. Peter was an avid outdoorsman and had a love for animals.
He enjoyed camping and visiting friends at Cape Cod, as well as the "round table" of friends at Mrs. K's Kitchen.
Survivors include his brother: Tom (Annette) Goodwin of Poughkeepsie; cousin: William Acker of Gilboa; four nephews: Tom (Melanie) Goodwin of Preston Hollow, Matt (Adine) Goodwin of Hyde Park, Brian (Sara) Goodwin of Highland, and Todd (Danielle) Goodwin of East Rockaway; and great-nieces and great-nephews: Olivia, Gabrielle, Ryan, Eric, Isabella, and Henry.
A funeral service will be held at 5:30 P.M. on Monday, June 1, 2009, at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh, with Father Thomas F. Holmes officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM, prior to the service. Burial will be private.
