Peter Babcock

Cobleskill- Peter L. Babcock, 69, formerly of Grovenors Corners Road, died Thursday, March 18, 2010 at River Ridge Nursing Center in Amsterdam where he had been a resident for the past 9 months.

Born November 2, 1940 in Suffern, NY, Peter was a son of Peter and Helen (Katchmar) Babcock. He retired from SUNY Cobleskill, where he was employed as a cafeteria worker. Prior to that, Peter had worked at the former Ludley's Laboratory in Durham, NY and also at Provost Welding in Sloansville.

He married Rosemarie Allen on November 17, 1984 and she predeceased him on February 2, 2009.

Survivors include his daughters: Tracy Adkisson of Cherry Hill, NJ and Kristi Mitchell of Pleasant Valley, NY; a step-daughter, Lynn (Steven) Green of Sloansville; two granddaughters: Stacey (Brian) Baakman and their son, Tyson all of Charleston, and Kelly Green of Sloansville.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester, NY. Officiating will be Rev. Judy Thistle, chaplain of A.O. Fox Hospital. There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill and Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh.
