Hyndsville- Perecillia (Pressy) M. Mahar, 90, of Clove Road, died Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home in Stamford where she had been a resident for the past year.
Born October 8, 1921 in Roswell, NM, she was a daughter of Juan and Solome (Moreno) Iniges.
Pressy was a United States Army veteran, proudly serving with WAC during World War II, and receiving an honorable discharge as a corporal in 1944.
She was employed as a cook at SUNY Cobleskill for over twenty years and prior to that was a housekeeper for the Barber family in Watsonville.
Pressy loved flower gardening and cooking. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cobleskill.
She married Francis A. Mahar, Sr., on April 9, 1944, and he predeceased her on May 22, 1994. Pressy was also predeceased by her daughter, JoAnn Mahar in 1996, and her son, Francis A. Mahar, Jr. in 2004.
Survivors include three daughters: Linda Fox of Richmondville, June Mahar of Hyndsville, and Ella (Allan) Kirkham of Milton, FL; five grandchildren: Theresa Fox Wilson of Richmondville, Daniel Mahar of Cobleskill, Nadine Panarese of Schenectady, Jaime Fox of Ashland, VA, and Peter Mahar of Lake Elmore, VT; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill with Rev. Gregory Weider as celebrant. Family and friends are also invited to a period visitation to be held a from 6 to 8 PM on Tues., July 31, at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. Burial will be with military honors in Old Stone Fort Cemetery, Schoharie.
