West Fulton, NY Paul David Higgins, 68, a 35 year resident of West Fulton, died Tue., Nov. 21,2006 at his home surrounded by several family members.

Paul was born on Sept. 16, 1938 at St. Clare's Hospital in Manhattan. He was the son of Patricia and Peter Higgins and grew up in St. Albans, Queens

Paul married Ellen Marie Schmidt on Feb 7, 1959 . They resided in Bellmore, NY where they had five children before moving to West Fulton in Jan 1971.

He was a carpenter by trade and a member of carpenters Local Union 370. An avid outdoorsman, Paul was a member of the Middleburgh Rod and Gun Club and the National Rifle Assso. In the past he assisted the West Fulton Boy Scout Troop and the local 4H Club. His passions included bird watching, gardening, Irish music and most importantly spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Paul was predeceased by his wife Ellen on Mar 21, 2005, He is survived by his five children and their spouses and six grandchildren, Lisa Foster and husband Rich, their children, Caitlin, Ryan, and Kelsey of Hyde Park, NY Dina Prokrym and husband Steve of Schenectady, Paula Higgins and her husband Tom Abele and son Max of Bolton Landing, NY, Tara Keyser and husband Darren of Esperance, NY and his son Sean Higgins and his wife Kim and their children Gradyn and Sydney of Nantucket, MA

He is also survived by his sister Mary Greeley, brother-in-law John Briganti and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Mon, Nov 27, 2006 from 6-8 P.M. at the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh. A funeral service will be held on Tues. morning at 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home with Father Thomas Holmes of St. Catherine's Church officiating Burial will be in Middleburgh Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank friends and neighbors who were espically helpful, as well as the Catskill Area Hospice and the Community Hospice of Albany. Memorial contributions may be made to either hospice organization. .
