Warnerville- Patrick Francis McGowan, 64, of Leland Lane, died Saturday, April 7, 2007 at his residence.
Mr. McGowan was born August 7, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Joseph and Florence (Donato) McGowan. Pat graduated from Farmingdale High School in 1962 and then joined the United States Navy as a Fireman Second Class aboard the USS Calvert out of San Diego. He received an honorable discharge in 1965 and joined the reservists.
Pat was a conductor on the Long Island Railroad from 1967 to 1977 and then was employed by New York State as a stationary engineer at Homer Folks in Oneonta and then SUNY Cobleskill where he retired from.
Survivors include his wife, Linda (Bishop) McGowan, whom he married September 21, 1994 in Las Vegas; 2 daughters: Elizabeth (Brian)Hoffman of Richmondville and Kerri Gartung of Mound Vision, NY; a son, Patrick McGowan of Saratoga Springs; 2 sisters: Maureen Cunningham and Alberta Myers, both of Long Island; 2 brothers, Terry McGowan of CO and Dennis McGowan of Pawleys Island, SC; and 7 grandchildren: Alysha and Brooke Hoffman, Julia and Shane McGowan, Kaitlyn Burton, Peter and Adam Gartung.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home 171 Elm Street Cobleskill with Sister Connie James of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Cobleskill officiating. Inurnment will follow in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
