Summit- Nicola "Nick" Turturo, 78, of Bear Gulch Road, died Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at Countryside Care Center in Delhi, NY
Mr. Turturo was born April 6, 1928 in Howes Cave, the son of Vincenzo and Teresa (Marzello) Turturo.
He was a lifelong area resident and retired from Penn Dixie Cement Plant where he was a crane operator. Mr Turturo was also an alfalfa farmer in Howes Cave.
He was a United States Navy Veteran serving during World War II from 1945 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1947. He was of Catholic Faith.
Mr. Turturo was an avid New York Yankees fan.
Survivors include his sister, Laura Vogt of Arlington,VA; a niece, Susan Vogt of Portland, OR; and two nephews, Scott Vogt of California and Timothy Vogt of Berkley Spring, West Va.
A funeral liturgy will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 10, at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home 171 Elm St. Cobleskill, with Sister Connie James of St. Vincent de Paul Church officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM on Fri. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
