Richmondville- Nancy L. Firman, 77, of Main Street, died Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown following a brief illness.
Born February 22, 1945 in Cobleskill, she was the daughter of Eban and Doris M. (Slater) Markle. Nancy was a graduate of the former Richmondville Central School and continued her education at Albany Medical Center where she earned her license for practical nursing.
Most of Nancy's career was at the Bank of Richmondville in Richmondville, where she retired as manager. She enjoyed camping, traveling and spending time near the ocean. She was an animal lover and was very protective of her fur babies.
She was a member of Richmondville United Methodist Church.
Her family that survives are her husband, Terry J. Firman whom she married October 3, 1965; son and daughter-in-law, James and Jennifer Firman of Howes Cave; brothers-in-law, Michael and Sue Bortell of Carlisle, NY, Dr. William D. Firman, Jr. of Orlando, FL; as well as many cousins.
A private graveside service will be held in the spring at Cobleskill Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, Inc., PO Box 40, Howes Cave, NY 12092 or to Richmondville Volunteer Emergency Squad, PO Box 11, Richmondville, NY 12149.
