COBLESKILL-Nancy M. Davies, 89, of Campus Drive, died Thursday, November 29, 2012 at her residence following a brief illness.
Born September 2, 1923 in Marcellus, NY, she was a daughter of Wesley T. and Violet (Welsh) McKenzie.
Nancy proudly served her country in the United States Navy Waves from 1943 until receiving an honorable discharge as Pharmacists Mate Second Class in 1946.
She received her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and began her teaching career at the age of 50. She retired from the Ryder Elementary School where she taught kindergarten through third grade. Nancy had also been a Cub Scout Leader when her children were young.
Caring for many, family is what she treasured most.
She was predeceased by her husband, John, who died June 2, 1963, an infant son, Peter Jennings Davies, who died in 1958, and her son, Evan, who died October 30, 1988.
Survivors include her four children: Sara (Tom) Griffin of Schoharie, McKenzie (Evelyn) Davies of Cobleskill, Scott (Sue) Davies of Cobleskill, and John (Tram) Davies of Newport Coast, CA; two sisters: Mary Alford of Adams, NY, and Hope O'Donnell of Dewitt, NY; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced. Burial will be private in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
