Cobleskill- Myrtle D. Cole, 91, of Woodland Drive, Cobleskill, NY, died Friday, August 18, at Wilkinson Residential Healthcare Facility in Amsterdam.
Born April 5, 1932, in Center Haverhill, NH, she was the daughter of Charles and Gladys Downing. After moving to Quechee, VT, she met Bruce Cole whom she married on July 22, 1950. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2019.
Myrtle and Bruce owned a dairy farm and produced maple syrup in Barnard, VT, where she worked at the general store. They moved to Smyrna, NY, in 1969 and then a dairy farm in Carlisle, NY, in 1972. They settled in Warnerville, NY, in 1982.
For over 30 years, Myrtle worked for The Yardstick in Cobleskill, NY. An avid animal lover, she adored her pet cats and dogs and bird watching. She enjoyed square dancing and roller skating. Myrtle loved jigsaw and crossword puzzles, reading, tole painting, and making quilts, teddy bears and stuffed animals. She also created walnut Christmas ornaments that she gave away to friends and family.
Myrtle is survived by daughters Vicky (Harry) of Maine, Valarie (Alan) of Wisconsin, Deborah (Mark) of Texas, and Bonnie (David) Bradbury of Schoharie, NY; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life for both Bruce and Myrtle on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St, Cobleskill. A private burial will take place in Quechee, VT, at a later date.
