Mike A. Sodomora, 76, of Arabia Rd. in Summit, died July 14th at his home. He was born on April 4, 1949, to Walter and Shirley (Kaplan) Sodomora in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He has been a resident of Summit for over 23 years, previously residing in Lake Hopatcong, NJ.
Mike graduated from Westfield High School and furthered his education at Union County College, studying warehouse management. He has worked for Mattel, Emerson Quiet Kool, and the Girl Scout Distribution Center as Manager. Their company worked with supplying the Girl Scouts of America with most of their equipment and supplies, except the cookies.
He honorably served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He left the Navy with the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Mike was a true outdoorsman, where he especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and listening to country music
He is survived by his son, Michael P. Sodomora, and his sister, Joyce.
Friends and family are welcome to gather Monday, July 28th, from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill, NY. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia, NJ.
Memorial Contributions in Mike's name may be donated to the Veterans Administration, a local VFW or American Legion.
