Maxine Jane Van Deusen Christman, 78, of Western Turnpike, Delanson, New York died Saturday, January 10, 2026, at her home, with her husband by her side.

Born on May 22, 1947 in Cobleskill, NY, she was the daughter of Richard Van Deusen and Frances Proctor Van Deusen. She was a graduate of Cobleskill Central School, Class of 1965 and SUNY Cobleskill, Class of 1967.

Maxine was a school lunch Cook from 1978-1991. She was school lunch Manager from 1991-2004, retiring in 2004.

She was a Certified Lay Minister for the United Methodist Church, serving from 2005-2019.

Maxine was a member of the Lynnwood Reformed Church.

She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and prayer shawl ministry.

On August 31, 1968, at the Lawyersville Reformed Church, Maxine was married to Harold Richard Christman.

She was predeceased by her brother, Bill VanDeusen in 1994; sister, Jan Pendagast in 2021; father, Richard Van Deusen in 2014; and mother, Frances Van Deusen in 2025.

Maxine is survived by her husband, Harold Richard Christman; brother, Warren (Pat) Van Deusen; daughters, Amy (Curt) VanSteele, Mary (Mike) Hinkley; granddaughter, Natalie Mitchell; and grandson, Joshua Mitchell.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026 at 10:00AM at Lynnwood Reformed Church, 3714 Carman Road, Schenectady, NY 12303. Burial will take place at Old Stone Fort Cemetery at a later date.
