Maxine Back-Heffron
Central Bridge - Maxine "Max" Back-Heffron, 70, of Grovenors Corners Rd., died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 after a long battle with cancer.
She was born October 11, 1940, in Howes Cave, NY and was the daughter of Harry E. and Alice (Lawton) Back.
Max obtained her Master's Degree in Special Education and worked for Capital Regional BOCES until her retirement. She was an avid bridge player, a master gardener, and always loved a good laugh.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond, who died in 1998 and a brother, Nelson Back, who died in 2006.
Max is survived by one brother, Jeffrey D. (Kim) Back of Oneonta, NY, two nieces, Ashley Back of Hoboken, NJ and Megan Back of Albany, NY, and one nephew, Michael Marable of Port Orange, FL.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm, Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY. The public is welcome to a period of visitation to be held prior to the service from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. Burial will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made in Max's honor to The Landis Arboretum, PO Box 186, Esperance, NY 12066 or the Central Bridge Civic Association, PO Box 120, Central Bridge, NY 12035-0120.
