Maurice Miller

Cobleskill- Maurice E. Miller, 69, of Kennedy Road, died Thursday, August 23, 2012 at his residence with his loving family at his side.

Born July 8, 1943 in Cobleskill, he was the son of Leland and Marion (James) Miller. Maurice was a lifelong area resident and retired in 2005 from NYS Department of Transportation after twenty-five years of service.

He was a member of the Cobleskill United Methodist Church where he assisted with the food pantry, church dinners, and repairs with projects such as heating units. Maurice was also a fireman for ten years with the Cobleskill Volunteer Fire Dept.

Being raised on a farm, he enjoyed helping his neighbor farmer, and tinkering with his tractor and other projects. Maurice was the type of person who would offer his help to anyone.

Survivors include his wife: Patricia (Hellijas) Miller, whom he married July 12, 1964; his two daughters: Cindy (Adam) Hay of Carlisle and Candie Miller of Cobleskill; two grandchildren: Sarah and Nathan Hay; and his brother: Terry (Beatrice) Miller of Summit.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012 from 2-4 PM at the Cobleskill United Methodist Church Social Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to Cobleskill United Methodist Church Food Pantry, 107 Chapel St., Cobleskill, NY 12043 or Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. 795 E. Main St., Suite 11, Cobleskill, NY 12043.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill and Palmer and Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh.
