West Fulton (Schoharie County)- Mary Louise Sloan of West Fulton died on March 4, 2010 after a short illness. Better known as MiMi to family and friends, she was 64 at the time of her death.
MiMi was born in Syracuse, but lived most of her adult life in Guilderland. She also resided in the Washington, DC suburb of Silver Springs for several years and most recently in Schoharie County on a rural farm homestead.
She is survived by her husband, Stephen F. Sloan, and two daughters, Kimberly Milza of Queensbury and Pamela Discenza of Rochester and their respective husbands, John A. Milza and Dean Discenza. MiMi had four wonderful and deeply loved grandchildren: Julia and Kevin Milza of Queensbury and Peter and Clara Discenza of Rochester. She was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Antoinette DiMillo of Syracuse, her brother, John A. DiMillo of Fayetteville, NY and her beloved basset hound, Turbo.
MiMi had a rewarding career of being a stay-at-home mom as well as working at several rewarding administrative assistant positions with the State University College of Environmental Science and Forestry, Mechanical Technology, Inc. and the New York State Home Care Association. She retired from the position of Chief Court Clerk for the Town of Guilderland Justice Court. She loved to cook and was an accomplished seamstress and worked diligently on intricate and complicated handwork.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at St. Madeline Sophie Catholic Church, 3500 Carman Road, Schenectady, where the family will receive friends following the Mass from 12:30 to 1:30. Burial will be private at Springfield Center Cemetery, Springfield Center, NY.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 would be appreciated.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh and Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.
