Mary Michels

Cobleskill- Mary F. Balady Michels, 97, formerly of Cobleskill, died Friday, October 8, 2010, at Mount Loretto Nursing Home in Amsterdam, NY after a brief illness.

She was born April 10, 1913 in Brooklyn NY and was the daughter of Raphael and Frieda (Hawinh) Balady.

Mrs. Michels was a typesetter for Harris Intertype Company in Watchung, NJ for many years. She also worked as a nurse during WWII. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed bingo, and was a great lover of animals.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Ethel Barimo, Leona Hayek, Olga Caton, her brothers, Jack and Herbert Balady, and her dear nephews, Basil and Eddie Barimo.

She was a devoted Aunt to her many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. Those survivors include: Maryann and Robert Oteri of Cobleskill, whom she lived with for many years, Graig and Jenn Oteri and their children, Joey, Angelina, Anthony, and Ella Oteri all of Rumson, NJ, Clint and Monika Oteri of East Greenbush, NY, Dylan and Brett Oteri of Cobleskill, Ingrid Balady of Brooklyn, NY and Debra LaClair of Kearny, NJ.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, on Monday, October 11, 2010, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill, NY with Father John Roos as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery, Cobleskill, NY. Visitation will be private.
