Cobleskill- Mary Margaret (Duren) Hodder, 72, of Clinton Circle, Cobleskill, died Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital.
She was born September 29, 1939 in Milwaukee, WI, the only daughter of Albert and Lorna (Montanye) Duren.
She was a 1957 graduate of Solomon Juneau High School in Milwaukee, WI. Mary graduated valedictorian from Alverno College in 1961 with a Bachelor of Music Education and English Degree. She taught Music Education in the Muskego, WI School District. She moved to Cobleskill, NY after marrying Robert Hodder in 1964 and he predeceased her in 1988.
At one time, she was an active member of the tanzanite hospital auxiliary. She was a past member of the New Century Club, acting as president and being state transportation chairman. She was a communicant of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, where she was organist and a choir director for twenty-five years. Years ago, she was very active in the community orchestra.
Mary taught private music and piano lessons in her home and was a member of the Cobleskill Volunteer Rescue Squad. She retired in 2008 from the Cobleskill Price Chopper. She was also an avid gardener and enjoyed the great outdoors with her late companion of over twenty years, Ray T. Montane, who predeceased her in 2010.
Survivors include her daughter: Donna Ambrosia and her loving grandsons: Anthony, Vincent, and Ricky all of New Jersey.
In honor of Mary's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cobleskill Volunteer Rescue Squad, PO Box 451, Cobleskill, NY 12043.
