Richmondville- Mary Eloise Hill Eakin passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at Halifax Hospital, Daytona, Fl. Eloise was a resident of Port Orange, FL. and a former resident of Richmondville, NY.
She was born December 31, 1925, the daughter of Willis and Katherine (Smith) Hill. Eloise graduated as valedictorian of the class of 1943 from the Richmondville Central School. She was a graduate of Ryder College, Trenton, NJ. After graduating, she joined the Bank of Richmondville and, after a distinguished career, retired in 1978 as the county's first female bank Vice-President.
Eloise married Robert J. Eakin on June 19, 1944. He predeceased her on June 28, 1984. Her parents and brothers, Lewis and Leland Hill, also predeceased her.
She was a member of the Richmondville United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Eastern Star.
Eloise is survived by her daughter, Donna (Bill) Davis of Skaneateles, NY and Naples, FL, her sons, Robert Jr. of New Smyrna Beach, FL, and William (Linda) of Colchester, CT, sister-in-law, Leah Millias of CO, and daughter-in-law, Christine Bellegarde of Albany, NY.
She will be lovingly remembered by her ten grandchildren: Jamie, Jeffrey and Jason Davis, Tim, Joanna, Bobby and Wendy Eakin, and Matthew, Brendan, and Daniel Eakin. She was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren.
Also, several nieces and nephews survive Eloise.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the Richmondville United Methodist Church, Main St., Richmondville with the retired Rev. Victor R. Zaccaro officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 2 PM at the church on Sat., prior to the service. Inurnment will follow in Richmondville Rural Cemetery.
